- I sent my recollections back to Mark Smith and related that the event started in 1987 and 1988 at the Police Athletic League park on Linglestown Road. It was called "Open Air" (glbt in the open air) and we put up pink ballons where attendees turned into the road.

It is also why June becaue Gay Pride month. I am not sure about Harrisburg Pride. The first one I remeber took place on the HACC grounds but I believe Riverfront Park was the year before that.
